Colorado Opportunity Caucus Welcomes Shared Vision of Gov. Jared Polis
DENVER—Members of the Colorado Opportunity Caucus are responding with optimism to Gov. Jared Polis’s State of the State Address earlier today, in which he outlined a vision for his last year as governor that closely aligns with the vision and goals of the Caucus.
“Gov. Polis delivered a series of goals and aspirations for Colorado that are very much in line with those of the Opportunity Caucus,” Caucus Chair Sen. Lindsey Daugherty said following the speech. “It’s both hopeful and empowering to hear the Governor address the same issues facing the middle class that our Caucus members are focused on this session: access to affordable healthcare and housing—including reducing the burden of skyrocketing insurance premiums across all sectors—protecting education and expanding job training and retraining, and fighting back against toxic Trump Administration policies on everything from immigration to childhood immunization.
“Our members who were named by the Governor during his remarks are appreciative for his ongoing support and recognition of the hard work they have done, and continue to do, on behalf of working Coloradans,” Daugherty continued. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity this new session will give us to continue to protect and grow Colorado’s middle class, and we are eager to work with our colleagues and the Governor to continue delivering impactful results for our constituents statewide.
“Whether it’s creating government efficiencies to reduce taxpayer burdens, increasing affordable access to housing and home ownership, growing and strengthening our statewide workforce, or protecting the profitability of our ranches and farms, Gov. Polis and our fellow legislators will find our members willing and eager to work in partnership,” she concluded. “As the Governor noted, ‘the state of our state is strong, resilient, loving, kind, innovative, free and ever bright with the promise of a Colorado for all.’ The members of the Opportunity Caucus share this vision, and we are eager to make it a continued reality as we get back to work.”
